IWAIS 2022

International Workshop on Atmospheric Icing of Structures

Ole Berg

Welcome to IWAIS 2022

As announced at the IWAIS 2019 meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland, we are thrilled to host the next IWAIS event in Montréal, which has been rescheduled to June 19th-23rd, 2022 under the provision that travel is safe and public assemblies are permitted in the aftermath of the global COVID-19 crisis.

Canada has a long-standing commitment to IWAIS as we have met here four times already; the last time being in Montreal, in 2005. We have a vibrant community of researchers, consultants, manufacturers and utility stakeholders who are eager to innovate, share and implement effective solutions to mitigate icing on structures, with an emphasis on power line equipment. Atmospheric icing is complex and more than ever, as climate perturbations are causing more ice storms on our territories, we need to engage a younger generation of participants in the solution process.

We remain open to your suggestions as we are organizing the event at McGill University. Please do not hesitate to contact Ghyslaine McClure (ghyslaine.mcclure@mcgill.ca) or Masoud Farzaneh (Masoud_Farzaneh@uqac.ca) personally if need be, or the IWAIS 2022 Secretariat (iwais2022@mcgill.ca).

You are invited to explore some of the features of our preparations on this site. Please keep in mind that Montréal, Québec and Canada are excellent touristic destinations with attractions for all ages and tastes!
